Vegas StrEATs Festival – Saturday, Sept. 8

El Cortez hosts the monthly Vegas StrEATs food-truck, arts and music festival on the Jackie Gaughan Parkway from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Many of Las Vegas’ favorite food trucks participate in Vegas StrEATs each month along with local art and clothing vendors from across the city. Karaoke Fridays inside The Parlour – Every Friday at 10 p.m.

The Parlour inside El Cortez becomes downtown Las Vegas’ go-to destination for karaoke every Friday at 10 p.m. throughout August.  From classics hits to today’s chart toppers, brave patrons can entertain their friends and other guests of The Parlour during this intimate Friday night party. The vintage-style lounge will feature $3 drink specials, including kamikazes, Jager bombs, Cabo bombs, cherry bombs and Irish car bombs.

 

Award-Winning Elvis Presley Tribute – Every Friday and Saturday from 6 – 10 p.m.

John Brooks, an award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist, performs inside The Parlour every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Free Play Frenzy for Jackpot Winners in September

Throughout September, Club Cortez players winning a jackpot of $200 or more on a slot machine, a $200 or more jackpot on a video poker five-cent or lower denomination machine, a $300 or more jackpot on a video poker ten-cent or high denomination machine or a $200 or more jackpot on live keno will receive $10 to $1,000 in free play. All jackpot winners will also receive an entry into the weekly Saturday night 40” LCD HDTV giveaway and $2,000 cash prize drawing.  Please see Club Cortez for additional information and to redeem tickets.

 

El Cortez Participates in Station Casinos’ “$2 Million Great Giveaway Football Contest” and “Last Man Standing Pro and College Elimination Football Contests” – Throughout September

El Cortez’s sports book is managed through Station Casinos and will feature the popular “$2 Million Great Giveaway Football Contest” and “Last Man Standing Pro and College Elimination Football Contests” throughout the 2012 football season.

 

With the “$2 Million Great Giveaway” contest, a $25 entry fee registers players to compete for their share of $2 million in total cash and prizes including the opportunity to win one of two Dunhill Homes, a new Chevrolet Camaro or Silverado truck, or as an alternative to a vehicle, a cash prize of up to $20,000. Over the 17-week NFL season, the “$2 Million Great Giveaway” will award a total of $30,000 in prizes each week to players with the most wins or losses.  The contestant who picks the most season winners or losers will win a new Dunhill home valued at $225,000 or $100,000 cash. The popular “Fiddle in the Middle” returns with total cash prize winnings of $200,000 for selecting the equal number of wins and losses for the entire season. There is a $25 fee per entry with no more than two paid entries per person allowed. Those who purchase two entries will receive a bonus third entry for free. Contestants may submit weekly picks for the “$2 Million Great Giveaway” with their Boarding Pass or Club Cortez card at El Cortez or any of the 15 Station Casinos’ sports book locations. For added convenience, easy-to-use computer kiosks at each location allow contestants to register their weekly picks 24-hours a day. Weekly standings may be checked online by heading to www.sclv.com/promotions. End of season results will be announced on January 7, 2013.

 

With the “Last Man Standing” elimination contests, contestants have the ability to win up to $200,000 in this year’s “winner takes all” event – available for both professional and college football. “Last Man Standing” is based on picking one winning football team against the contest line weekly. Selections will be made against the point spread listed on the weekly contest card and if it is a winning selection, that entry will remain in the contest for the following week. The fee is $25 per entry. Each contestant may purchase up to four entries total with a fifth entry for free for both contests. The prize money will be awarded to the last contestant remaining. If the weekly selection is a losing selection or a contestant fails to submit a weekly selection, that entry will be eliminated. There will be no ties and all games will be half point spreads. $75,000 will be the minimum guaranteed aggregate prize for the professional football contest and $25,000 will be the minimum guaranteed aggregate prize for the college football contest. One hundred percent of all entry fees will be returned as prize money. Thursday, Friday and Saturday college football games may be included. A $100,000 winner’s bonus will be awarded to a player who individually wins both the professional and college “Last Man Standing” contests. The weekly contest card will be available in the sports books beginning Monday, Sept. 3. The deadline for signing up is Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. for the college football contest and by Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. for the professional football contest to be eligible.

Monday Night Football Specials at El Cortez

El Cortez will offer specials including $1 Budweiser and Bud Light drafts and $1 Vienna Beef hot dogs for all Monday Night Football games during the 2012 – 2013 football season. In addition, halftime drawings will be held during each game where guests can win jerseys and other prizes. Promotion starts Monday, Sept. 10.

$25,000 Cash is King Drawing – Saturday, Sept. 15

The El Cortez will host a $25,000 Cash is King Drawing on Saturday, Sept. 15.  Club Cortez members received one entry ticket to the September drawing for every 5,000 points they earned in July and August. Please see Club Cortez for additional information.

 

Friends of The Smith Center Enjoy Benefits at El Cortez

El Cortez Hotel & Casino welcomes friends of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts to downtown Las Vegas by extending on-property benefits to show-goers.  Individuals who show an official “Friends of the Smith Center” card or Smith Center show tickets and stubs on the same date as a performance can receive a $10 discount on an entrée at The Flame Steakhouse, a complimentary cocktail inside The Parlour, and a complimentary additional night’s stay after booking a one-night stay at El Cortez.

El Cortez Vintage Dining & Cocktail Menus

Due to popular demand, The Flame Steakhouse will continue serving selected items from the vintage dining and cocktail menus in 2012.  The menus, created in 2011 to honor the property’s 70th anniversary, dust off Las Vegas’ old recipe books and reintroduce a few classic favorites. These iconic dishes will be available at the Flame Steakhouse every Tuesday through Thursday.

 

Vintage Dining Menu

Appetizer: Oysters Rockefeller, fresh shucked Kusshi oysters baked with fresh spinach, hollandaise sauce and Pernod

 

Entree: Tournedos of beef Rossini, twin Filet Mignonettes, pan fried in butter, topped with pate Foie Gras and Madeira demi-glace

 

Dessert: Strawberries Romanoff, fresh hulled strawberries macerated in Cointreau and orange juice, served with fresh whipped cream and ice cream

 

Vintage Cocktail Menu

The vintage cocktail menu will be served at The Parlour, located on El Cortez’s casino floor. This menu celebrates the history of mixology by educating guests on the origins of classic cocktails while offering a chance for them to enjoy their favorites. The menu includes cocktails such as the side car, which originated in the 1920s during World War I; the mint julep, which originated in the 1700s and is one of the country’s oldest cocktails; the blood and sand, a drink from the 1930 premiere of a Rudolph Valentino film; the aviation, a drink created in the 1910s by the head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York, and many more.

 

Free Klondike Bars for Club Cortez Players

El Cortez Hotel & Casino is helping Club Cortez members beat the heat by serving free Klondike bars for players who hit a jackpot of $25 or more every Wednesday in August. Klondike bars have been a dessert favorite of Americans since the 1920s.

Weekly High Noon “Wheel and Deal” Drawing
